The Blaugust 2015 Writing Prompts thread unsurprisingly has some writing prompts. This set of 10 questions is one of them.
1. Favourite console?
XBox 360. It’s only one of two consoles that I have owned, after the original XBox. I have friends who are confirmed Playstation fans, but for me it’s the XBox, after the PC of course.
2. If you could live in a video game universe, what would it be and why?
Is The Culture a video game universe yet? (If not, it should be!)
I don’t think I’m all that keen on living in a fantasy universe. Medieval worlds… No toilet paper, plague, brutal warlords and rulers, minimal freedoms. No thanks.
The same applies to most post-apocalyptic worlds, so I’d probably go for a SciFi world. There are a couple that I wouldn’t mind living in if I weren’t in the middle of the (story) action. Perhaps one of the Star Wars universes. Star Trek could be an option too.
3. When you’re not gaming, what else do you do?
I read, mostly SciFi. Work of course. Spend time with friends. And watch TV. Secondary hobbies: Bonsai and Oil Painting, but I haven’t spent much time on those over the last few years.
4. What’s your perfect day?
Wake up feeling rested. Nice cup of coffee sitting in a country setting, perhaps on a back veranda overlooking hills and pastures. Play some games, or watch TV while reading a good book until late afternoon. Then friends come over and we fire up the barbie and load it up with gourmet sausages, steak, lamb chops, and fried onions. Then eat and laugh our way into the late evening before every one leaves and I go to bed.
5. What was the first game you ever played?
First game? Probably a board game like Snakes and Ladders. First video game: Space Invaders in an arcade cabinet. First PC game: I think it was Commander Keen.
6. What was the weirdest game you ever played?
I’ve tried a couple of indie games. Dear Esther comes to mind (even though I found it kind of pointless.) Super Meat Boy was strange, but too hard.
7. Who’s your favourite bad guy (in anything- TV, film, games, comics etc) and why?
Lee Van Cleef. Angel Eyes in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. The best western movie ever made!
8. Good or evil?
So Lonestar, now you see that evil will always triumph, because good is dumb.
9. What’s your most prized possession?
I don’t know if I have anything that’s I consider a prized possession. I have things that I value. My books, technology, movies, but nothing that I would grieve over if I lost it. My friends on the other hand, if I lost them…
10. Healer, tank or DPS?
I’ve played all three, but generally prefer DPS as those characters tend to solo a bit better. And you don’t get yelled at as much if you’re grouping with
jerks other players.
If you’re doing the Blagust challenge, I’d like to encourage you to do this 10 question challenge. I won’t nominate anyone because if you’re seriously doing Blaugust you’ve probably got enough on your plate. However, if you’re struggling to find a topic this is a good one.
If you do do this one, let me know by linking to your post in the comments below.
