I have a feijoa tree in my backyard which for the last couple of years has been attracting a bunch of rainbow lorikeets.
Two years ago, the tree was absolutely full of them. This year, not so much. I’ve only spotted a few at a time.
Every year I’ve tried to get a decent photo. And every year it’s the same result. These cheeky birds flap about the tree in full colour, but as soon as I bring out the camera they move under cover. Just a few minutes ago one of them came out to squawk angrily at the cat, but the moment I pulled out my iPhone, it moved back into camouflage mode.
Well, here’s a pic someone else took.
