September – Shaping Up To Be A Busy Month
Posted by Stropp on July 22, 2009First both Champions Online and Jumpgate: Evolution pushed back their release dates to September. I think there are a couple of others due around the same time. (Aion?) Now Fallen Earth LLC, the company with the same name as their game, is announcing that their post-apocalyptic MMORPG Fallen Earth is also hitting the streets in September. The ninth to be exact.
Not sure if that’s really a great idea. It’s possible the extra competition could hurt sales. But I’m sure they’ve thought of that.
One interesting thing to note, of the games being released, none are fantasy. Jumpgate is starfaring scifi, Champions is a superhero game, and Fallen Earth is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi. I gotta say this: If any of you have been complaining that there’s nothing but fantasy MMORPGs out there, then you’d better get one of these games. Put your money where your mouth is.
I’m not sure which I’ll be getting yet. I’ll probably end up playing all three at some point, but only one at release. I’m leaning towards Champions Online, but not so much towards Jumpgate. Fallen Earth is in there, and it depends on what the game offers in the way of non-combat features as to whether it replaces Champions as September’s choice or not.
In anycase, you’ll be able to get the Fallen Earth via digital distribution, or from a game store, early September.

Yup, Aion is in late September, and that one *is* a fantasy game, so something for everyone in September, I guess.
I just fear I’ll be tempted by the dark side. That is, single player games! Some good ones headed our way this fall!
Something for all the family.
I’ll be honest, I’m more in a reactive mode when it comes to gaming at the moment. Just far too busy at work; it’s been quite stressful too. So I haven’t been digging into what is coming up so much. I’m learning about a lot of this as it comes up. Single player is even worse!
But unless something happens at work, I’ll be free come September. Perhaps even to give a couple of these games a bit of a looksee.
Well heres a heads up, Champions Online is staging an open beta on the 17th of August so keep your eyes peeled as that may give you an opportunity to suck it and see. Gamerzine also were giving away 10,000 closed beta codes but not sure if they have all went yet.
Excellent. Thanks for the tip. I’ll definitely keep my eyes open for that.
Update for closed beta comp by gamerzine, all the passes have went however I did recieve 2 different emails saying I will be recieving codes for two different days. Not being sure of registration process with the beta codes i.e. if I’ll be able to give it away but if it isnt registered to my email then I’ll give you a shout.
