Not really related to the question, but if you recall, World of Warcraft was the final sequel to the “Warcraft” series. I get a hunch that the new MMO will be realesed MUCH AFTER Starcraft II is released. Now connect the dots and see what I’m trying to say.

The CEO of Activision/Blizzard was recently quoted as saying the next Blizzard mmo will appeal to a “broader audience”. I thought WoW’s appeal was pretty damn broad. I’m disappointed. I’m still hoping that these statements are simply thrown out there for misdirection. I’m hoping that Blizz has a space mmorpg with the same artistry and scope as EvE online in the works.

@Victor — the developer was Troika iirc. However, while the game was popular it did have quality issues and that hurt Troika. They also did another game after that I cant remember at the moment, and I think that was unfinished too, not sure — Check wikipedia for the Troika story if youre interested.

Yes, I stopped playing WOW, its so boring. World of grinding is more fitting, its the same game from 5 years ago, all they do is add more levels, add higher numbers to armor’s abilities. They cannot balance pvp combat and raids are way too easy. You have to be mentally retarded not to be able to do them. They are designed for 13 year old kids ……come on. I went back to AOC which I like more, but my 8800gs card burned up, and my new cheap 9500gt can’t handle the game. Just gonna have to wait for star wars old republic, they are not going to have demanding pcs since they saw how AOC did.

Well, I heard the new mmorpg by blizzard might be a remake of the old game ARCANUM ( best rpg ever ). The world is already created, huge amazing world. Takes 48 hours to travel side by side, WOW might take 2-3 hours at most. Rich story line, interesting characters and most of the work has already been done, just need to adapt it to be mmo. The original game came out in 2001 i believed, made the developer rich and famous who is now working on Blizzard. Blizzard attained the rights a bit more than a year ago so, i hope that’s the one. IF they do turn Arcanum into a new mmorpg i’m there i don’t care if the game cost 100dls and sub is 20dls/month . That game is awesome.

it will be like runescape and runescape classic (which is really runescape 2 and runescape)

classic was put on a back burner after runescape 2 was a hit, wow will probably end up doing the same…getting put on the back burner while the new game gets most of the attention, i personally dont care what they decide to do as long as i have a game to play

hardcore gamer means that the gamer will not care if the developers make the game more 65% harder to play, to make the game just with 15% of better gameplay.
hardcore gamers means that they dont care if the game will get far more complex, if the game get an amount of higher quality its ok.

The new game will be a more refined casual-friendly MMO experience. Blizzard is on track to ensure that they stay on top of the MMO market and they always will untill their leadership retires and the company falls apart under management of those who lack the vision of the original organization. “Hardcore” is a minor segment of the MMO population and since blizzard is out to rake in the cash the company has zero interest in serving the hardcore community beyond things like hard modes for raid bosses.The purpose of the next gen MMO is to roll all of the lessons learned from WoW into a fresh product and stay on top of the MMO gaming pile. They are simply being pro active and planning for the future. I seriously doubt that WoW will run parallel with the new MMO.
