Tabula Rasa: The Final Stand
Posted by Stropp on March 1, 2009Tabula Rasa: Years in development, including a change from fantasy to science fiction, is now no more.
Last night saw the final Tabula Rasa server shutdown events occur as the devs put on something extra for the fans of the game that stuck with them
The Warcry Network put up a Tabula Rasa tribute video on their website which I’ve embedded it here.
I reckon that it’s a real shame that Tabula Rasa had to be closed down. Sure there were mistakes made, through development and perhaps after release that severely impacted on the games viability, but it’s still sad to see all that work and passion gone to waste. Perhaps if the global economic crisis wasn’t impacting literally every part of the economy, Tabula Rasa might still be with us.

I think my sentiments are more in line with that final frame of the video… never forget. I’ll never forget it’s unique game play, all the awesome people I hung out with over on the euro servers, and the first time I listened to a podcast by Shawn Schuster.
There are some not so rosy things, and I’ll probably remember those too. But hey, live and learn as they say. Time to move forward.
It was a pretty decent game when all is said and done, there were flaws to be sure, but the game still had its niche. Pity it was shut down.
