Don’t Worry – I’m Still Alive
Posted by Stropp on November 21, 2008but I’m just taking it easy for a bit.
The last couple of months have seen me experience my own, slightly less intense, version of a global financial crisis by getting hit by a massive and unexpected bill, which was compounded by the Aussie dollar falling through the floor like a chunk of superdense neutron star.
Adding to this was my bank somehow finding a way to increase my mortgage repayments despite the interest rate dropping by nearly two percent. And on Friday last, someone reversed out of ninety degree parking into my car as I was sitting at the lights. Doh!
This unfortunately has forced me to put my newborn freelancing business on hold, and head back into the world of nine to five and bosses.
It’s also completely demotivated me for anything outside of my new job that requires discipline (which, as we know, blogging does.)
I have been doing some gaming though. I’m still subscribed to Warhammer, but haven’t spent a lot of time over the last couple of weeks since I’ve been playing Fallout 3.
Speaking of Fallout 3. Excellent game. I was inclined previously not to play it because of the changes made due to Aussie censorship, but it turned out the change was very minor and didn’t affect gameplay in anyway.
I finished the game last night, did nearly all of the major quests (outside the main questline) and took the path of goodness and all things peachy with small arms and energy weapons. All up I reckon it took close to 40 hours to play through, but I didn’t visit a lot of locations.
I am tempted to go through again and play bad with big guns and explosives, but I might wait a while. I’m hearing good things about Fable 2, so I’m considering that. Or, I might hammer the Warhammer Online for a while. We’ll see.
In the meantime, I’ll be taking it easy for a bit. I will be posting, but not necessarily regularly. Christmas is coming up and the lead up to it can be a busy work time. I reckon I’ll be back to normal come the new year.

Glad yo hear you’re ok, sad to head about your woes. I know woes. I’m about to head into one this morning, heh.
Just so we know you didn’t turn into a surfer dude and give up technology!
Stropp! I’m so sorry you’ve fallen on difficult times, I’m sure there’s some light ahead. My guess is that you’ve been around the block before and you can endure
Anyway, keep your head up! Its good to see you posting again!
Life eh?!
Am gaming more & more on the 360 – email me your gamer tag when you get chance.
Ysharros & br3ntbr0: Thanks for your comments, it has been somewhat difficult, but I’ve been working (literally) through it and financially things are looking good. My five week contract has now been extended through end of June next year, and then I’ll see where I’m at.
Not likely to turn into a surfer dude though. I have to steer clear of the beaches or I get Greenpeace people trying to push me back into the water!
DM: My gamer tag is the usual game handle – Stropp.
I’m so predictable!
Ah, here was me thinking you may be too busy on Warhammer……
Iv done the unthinkable and returned to WoW, iv not however even bought WoTLK iv decided to just take it easy and enjoy the quests, areas, socialising without the need to powerlevel and then buy the WoTLK if im still enjoying it…… In other words iv started from scratch
Gave WAR a decent outing and to be honest it is a good game in its own right, i just dont think it has the right content for me. The PvP or RvR if you like was disappointing as even 1 on 1 fights it seemed more to do with luck than actual skill and the PvE well what little was there wasnt much to write home about.
So thats a good few MMOs iv tried recently – Everquest, SWG, AoC, Vanguard, WAR, LoTRO. I guess WoW is my home for now or at least till i figure out if im just bored of this type of game
Fable 2 is a fun little romp for sure. It too has a main story line that you can avoid by doing side quests…being bad or good is also an option as is owning every business in town. It’s different than Fallout, but still a fun game.
If you like shooters and co op, I’d also suggest Left 4 Dead…a very fun game. Make sure to add me to your 360 list as well so we can maybe hook up someday.
Oakstout
Hey Oakstout, I did get Fable 2, and yes it is a fun little romp. Still got a ways to go, and I got Red Alert 3 over Christmas too, which removes even more time from my day.
Hi Super Ally, sorry for not replying earlier. I haven’t actually been playing much of WAR lately, I did a stint of WoW before Chrissie and since then I dabbled in a couple of ‘free’ games — Wizard 101, DOMO — and have dropped back into the original Everquest of all things. Got a bit nostalgic I suppose.
