Mythic Patcher Is UP
Posted by Stropp on August 22, 2008It’s 2am here, so I’ll be quick.
I just retried running up the patcher for Warhammer Online, and I no longer get a quick flash and sent back to the log in dialog.
It took quite a while to bring up the EULA/TOS. I suspect the servers are quite busy with folks logging in. The patch however, once it started, was astoundingly fast. I was expecting a pretty large patch, but it was only a few meg. It all downloaded and updated in less than a minute.
As I said, it’s 2am Friday morning here. That means it’s early Thursday afternoon in the US. That means less than 24 hours to the start of the Preview Weekend.

You lucky sod, Ach well I look forward to seeing your thoughts. Im really trying not to build up my hopes on WAR but im finding it increasingly difficult. After the let downs of LoTRO, Vanguard and Conan (Conan being the worst imo because of all the hype) i dont think I could face another failure and tbh if it fails I am going to hang up my MMO headset and buy a ps3.
On the plus side I see alot more people giving the game the thumbs up from closed beta (and not just WAR fanboys) than i have any other game, the main issues people have are class balance….which to be fair happens with all new MMO’s and even older ones like WoW, and not the lack of polish.
Im hoping for a good launch and for them to push on from there by possibly stealing gamers from Conan, EQ2 and dare i say WoW.
Enjoy the preview weekend and please please pleeeeeeeeeeeease have a little go of a witch hunter and/or a squig herder(even for a couple of hours) as im really interested in those particular classes
Hi Ally.
It’s always hard to speak for how someone else will enjoy a game, but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. So far WAR is miles better than both Vanguard and AoC were at launch in terms of stability. There are some problems, but there’s still a month to launch. I can’t see them having many problems fixing the issues I’ve seen in that time.
Don’t expect WAR to be a revolutionary step up from WoW though. I think it’s better, but in an evolutionary sense. The best thing to say is that I’m enjoying it at the moment. Haven’t leveled too far and I’ve only done destruction so far. I’ll be writing up my thoughts after the preview weekend.
