@DM -- Yep, patching took a while for me as well, though not as long as I thought it would. I've noticed the blogger interest drop too, I imagine that is a big concern for Funcom. I'll be interested in reading your impressions when you post them.

@Super Ally -- I think that being in a guild community would make a lot of difference and would overcome some of the frustrations, I've found that in other MMOs I've played too. A guild can help me get through a period of boredom with the game.

Currently I'm concerned that if I do cancel in order to give AoC time to mature, with Warhammer and WotLK on the horizon I might not be back. These days there is always another MMO just around the corner.

I had posted a similar thing in my guild forum, im actually thinking of not quiting AoC but giving it time to come up to scratch ie a month or two.

Sure there are alot of bugs and things they need to fix but imo it is still the best MMO out to date. It certainly wont be the most popular due to a variety of reasons ie it is a niche in the market and also computer specs come into play.

i must say however im enjoying the community and my EU guild The Fallen Wild is absolutely brilliant, it suits me as its a casual guild but also every single member is mature, relaxed, a good laugh and very helpful.

Dont get me wrong if it wasnt for my friends and the guild i would have packed it in a couple of weeks back but we are almost finished the first teir of our guild city and its stuff like that which makes me want to stay. It promises to be an exciting future....if funcom deliver it is a different story

Just installing AoC now...bet the patching will take most of the afternoon too...hmm I do get the feel 1 month maybe my limit for now but can't be 100% sure of that.

Some good observations there Stropp, didn't know anything about climbing in the game! A number of bloggers look like they are dropping out fairly early on too.
