The news is out that Funcom has announced that the Age of Conan open beta will commence on the 1st of May. Good news for all of us who have been waiting with bated breath to finally have a look inside this new MMORPG.
My timing sucks though.
I'm traveling, starting on the morning of the 4th of May. Given the timezone differences, the beta will be available for us Australians on the 2nd.
Hmmm. I wonder if I'll have the time to download, install, have a bash, and write a quick update here?

I wish that were true
I just heard however that the AoC beta will require a paid fileplanet account to do the download. It’s a bit rough to be charging for a beta as far as I’m concerned, though it might have something to do with curbing the number of downloads. It’s also a 30GB disk requirement, which means that it’s likely a 10 or 15 GB download.
I’ll wait for release.
I also think its a cheek too & that with the Creature Editor for Spore being a retail product, it does make you think…games companies have a new angle on making money even before the full release of the title!
I hadn’t heard that. Isn’t the creature editor an integral part of the game?
If so, yeah, a bit cheeky to charge extra in order to play a game you already paid for.
