Stropp’s World Forums

A few months ago, I asked my readers if they would like to see Forums here on Stropp’s World. The question was asked in response to a smallish number of attempts to access a forum subdomain (forum.stroppsworld.com) on the site. I didn’t received any responses at the time, but the number of attempts to access a forum here kept increasing.

I figure that there are two possibilities.

The first is that some spam bot is trolling my site looking for a way in.

The second is that there are folks genuinely looking for a forum.

Being the optimistic sort I am, my hypothesis is for the second option. And since any hypothesis should be tested I have spent a little time over the last couple of evenings to set up the brand spankin’ new Stropp’s World Forums. You can access them through the Forum link in the menu bar, or by typing forum.stroppsworld.com or stroppsworld.com/forum in the address bar.

They are still very much a work in progress. Since Stropp’s World is not really focused on a single MMO, I wasn’t really sure what forums to include. I’ve currently got the a couple of general boards set up, and a few for the different games I am currently playing, or am interested in.

I’d appreciate any suggestions you might have for the forums. I’ve even set up a board for this purpose called Suggestions. If you have any ideas, please let me know there.

One of the things that Forums and Blogs have in common is that they are essentially community tools. While Blogs tend to be a single voice with a community of commenters, in a Forum the community voice tends to be much more prevalent. Adding a Forum to a Blog provides the best of both worlds.

Building a community here at Stropp’s World is a major goal for me this year. I hope you will join it.
